We won't get any wiser just by repeating.

To get back to the topic a bit: I have slightly changed the ground floor layout here.
Marked in red: The wall is to be removed to enlarge the office. The door to the outside would be removed.
Marked in green: I would slightly extend the wall/corner. I would rotate the wardrobe (currently built-in) as shown, and the door to the living area would be removed.
I don't have a concrete idea yet for the mess with the many doors at the back right. At least we would probably remove this corner in the bathroom. If anyone has a good idea, always feel free to share.

I can't help it that in #5 it says "I didn't read it but have you thought about tearing it down," although that's already in the original post. Instead of repeating myself, I could have also written "then just read it, instead of commenting that you haven't read it."

As far as old building renovation goes, I tend to be a worrier. But I have looked at the exposé. My opinion from experience with a house from this year of construction. For the price: Buy! Don’t completely renovate everything. Selectively renovate individual rooms, preserve floors, lay cables where necessary and possible. I think if the condition in the pictures reflects reality, the renovation is not as big a deal as I initially thought from the descriptions. I like the property immediately. Just the extension— which, in my taste, is tasteless and tacky— I might possibly replace depending on space requirements. I also looked at the area in GIS and noise mapping as well as Guuugle. Keep in mind, especially because of noise, you should: - Opposite there is a bakery that opens at 6 a.m. and before that, production and delivery traffic may already be taking place. - Right next to the house there is a transformer station for the overhead lines. Depending on load and season, the thing can hum. - The sloping street in front of the house with a stop sign leads to the agricultural highlands. You should expect large and usually loud vehicles to regularly use it. - The place lies directly in the western approach corridor of Ramstein Airbase. As the crow flies approx. 20 km. I think you should ask neighbors how they perceive the aircraft noise. That was the first thing that caught my attention.

Thank you, Joachim! Since I grew up nearby, I know the airbase flight noise from my childhood and youth. It's limited / I hardly notice it. The road is noticeable, I also noticed that when visiting. I'm still considering it, but it's very rural, the traffic is quite limited there. It used to annoy me when I lived in Oldenburg on a main road. However, the windows there were not very tight and it was a city. Here I am a few meters further away from the road, and it is a small village after all. I also know the tractor traffic etc. from before, it is within limits and nothing that bothers me. I am more sensitive to music and party noise, not so much to everyday sounds. Unfortunately, the bakery opposite is no longer there, but hopefully another one will come. :D My husband had concerns about the bus stop nearby & noise, my sister said "there's a bus twice a day." :D Edit: The extension actually doesn’t look as bad in real life as in the pictures. Only the roof is really ugly and the expert also said that given the year it was built, you have to assume it contains asbestos.
