Sorry for the quick question but what is the downside of having the windows run continuously along the wall instead of having them stand a few centimeters away from the wall there? We are also planning some windows to be "Raumbreit".

Nothing. It just has to fit. Architecturally, technically, and structurally :)

Several things. Connection complications at the lintel and in the roller shutter box, later external insulation and the like. And besides, the shadow of every speck of dust that the sun passes by. I had a pretty nice youth in the 80s, but I still wouldn't build so retro. But that's a matter of taste.

A small update:

That has really kept us thinking quite a bit over the last few weeks! After much back and forth and discussions with the architect and the building authority, we submitted a supplement to the building permit (there was a separate brief discussion about this in another forum). In short: We have received an oral approval from the authority for more height; in total, we can distribute 40cm across the floors. Now the question is, how?

Currently, we have the following floor heights

Basement 2.4 (minus 8cm floor construction = 2.32 RH), Ground floor 2.6 (minus 20cm floor construction = 2.40 RH), Upper floor 2.6 (minus 20cm floor construction = 2.40 RH)

I am now thinking, for example, of the following: Basement 2.5, Ground floor 2.7, Upper floor 2.8 or Basement 2.5, Ground floor 2.75, Upper floor 2.75

What do you think?

I drew two versions. My favorite is the version with the large living and dining area and the built-in cupboard. The pantry had to go, but the kitchen should offer enough potential for storage space; overall, I see advantages regarding storage space due to the built-in cupboard.

If it were to be version 2, I would have the bathroom door swing left towards the wall; behind it would then be just the wall, instead of sitting on the throne with a plank in front of your head. Oh yes, a sink is also missing there.

But the door solution in version 1 of the bathroom doesn't look quite fitting either. You open the door and are virtually standing in front of the sink, and with the door open, you have to maneuver around to quickly get to the shower, maybe because a towel is there... Hmm... and always having the door behind you... perhaps not so optimal.
Maybe it would be better to have the door open outwards, since the room is more wide than deep. Swap the shower and toilet, also swap the window and sink. That way, the space to open the door inward again might be well given.

Version 2 would never be an option for me. The dining table would be way too far and too much in the corner for me. In our family, the dining table is a focal point of family life (with two children). I like version 1, but the table would still be a bit too far from the kitchen for me.

Regarding ceiling height. I would keep the low ceiling height in the basement. You only have storage space there anyway. In the living area, I would definitely add height. In the upper floor the most.
