I don't think you should skimp on windows, as many windows were criticized here. We have also allocated a lot of space for a piano, etc., and in hindsight, I would have preferred to use that space for more light and windows! You can always shade (blinds are really great, we have them too!), but if it is too dark and windowless, you can't do anything about it later! Therefore, better to omit some furniture and be bold (unless it bothers someone to then be "sitting in a glass house," but that's another issue).

Wouldn't that be a prime opportunity to show it here as an alternative?

I really like windows and at the beginning I had practically imagined a glass wall across the entire south side of our house. At first, every piece of wall instead of a window hurt me, but now it feels more like a sensible necessity for interior design, since the fireplace is on a wall panel and on the other side there is a half-high piece of furniture as a room divider, possibly also a really large picture or something similar. In my opinion, raffstores should be mandatory for this. I already had large glass fronts in my previous house and never experienced them as the often-criticized "glass house," but always rather felt like living outdoors. I can only agree with ; you just have to be careful not to plan too extremely and also consider that you would usually plan differently for summer than for winter. I would also use furniture sparingly or always prefer lighter, freestanding furniture over wall units, but that is a matter of taste. I absolutely recommend the mentioned dose of courage toward your truly personal well-being. Therefore, I would not criticize having too much window area myself, but I would definitely place them consciously and as needed, but then really generously and boldly, like here with the entire dining area/kitchen in front of a huge window front. However, the living room is often more of a TV room, which the original poster should assess for themselves (or even better - change!), then there would be fewer windows in this area. But I would personally prefer to move the TV out of there.

I don’t find the glass fronts on the ground floor so bad when it comes to furnishing, but the 4 floor-to-ceiling windows in the parents’ area on the upper floor look really great from the outside, but they make furnishing upstairs really difficult. Exactly where the windows are, you could also put cabinets. As pretty as it is from the outside, here I would consider giving up two of the windows in favor of a high window band (with cabinets underneath).

I can only agree! We also decided against it. It makes certain situations a lot easier. Sometimes you want to place a desk partially in front of the window, which I wouldn’t do with floor-to-ceiling windows. It always depends on personal taste, I also find them visually much nicer, but maybe you need the corresponding size and space in the room for that.

It would be, as so often, my urgent advice to you: think about where what should go. How many linear meters of wardrobe do you need? Can you fit that in the space under where you planned the dressing room (I would say: there is not much space for that). If not, what could be the solution? Often sticking points only become apparent when you arrange the room and think about where what should go. The old oversized oil painting inherited from grandpa MUST be hung up – you have to know and plan that in advance. What do I need in the kitchen? Am I a Thermomix user? Then you should plan a good spot for it. Am I a coffee fetishist and have a sieving machine and an expensive coffee grinder? Where to put them? And the coffee grounds? Do I want it like in a barista bar? So an extra drawer with a wooden stick for knocking out the grounds? Or do I mainly drink tea? Would a Quooker be worth considering? Am I a cinephile and would actually rather have a screen and a projector than a normal TV? Etc. pp. and so on. You should consider and plan this now. I admit, I reach my limits when I try to find enough space with the windows in the current parent’s area for a dressing room, i.e. linear meters of wardrobe. That will be difficult... But maybe you are also followers of simplify my life and have max. 5 T-shirts, two pairs of jeans, and a warm sweater. Then a clothes hoarder like me is of course the wrong advisor... Also a tip: instead of small roof windows, we decided on a large fixed roof window pane. It’s wonderful (but we can also clean it from outside from the carport) and maybe worth considering for you as well (as far as I know, there are also solutions where such large window panes can be opened). That just came to my mind.
