Oh, really!
I find the new ground floor more appealing. The open space is back in the upper floors – I thought you could see that.
I find it hard to imagine that I’m pulling something out of your pocket that you like. In my opinion, your priorities are still somewhat outside of what I can understand. For example, square rooms are only nice for dancing. They are completely unsuitable for furnishing and arranging. Especially a utility room needs preferably long walls for installation. But beds, wardrobes, and sinks also usually want to be placed against a wall somewhere. That’s why it’s best to plan rectangular rooms.
Looking from the front door into the garden is rather disadvantageous for terrace comfort when the postman rings. But okay.
If I feel like it, I’ll gladly scribble around a bit again. But I already find the last draft with the changes quite good.
Sorry, I completely overlooked the open space! My mistake!
Please don’t misunderstand. Just because I like the things mentioned in the current draft doesn’t mean that we
necessarily have to have them. Currently, the individual rooms come together to form a composition that appeals to us. I just listed the reasons why that is.
You are absolutely right about the square rooms. I also didn’t say that we generally like them. But I find certain rooms square "better" than rectangular, such as a living room or the office. Especially regarding the utility room, I wrote that we really like the rather elongated than wide shape, because – as you say – we need a lot of wall space and rather less space in the middle of the room, as that space would be wasted. That became very clear to us quickly after several visits to show homes, and it’s actually logical as well.
The sightline was/is a big wish of my wife’s to bring a certain depth into the house.
I hope you get inspired to tinker with it; we would definitely be very happy!
