The look of the city villa would be our favorite, ideally even with a tent roof on the upper floor. That means the upper floor would probably have to be square. I’m not sure right now if a tent roof still works with slight deviations from the square shape or if even the smallest deviation directly results in a ridge. A short ridge wouldn’t really look nice to us.

The office and utility room are precisely not supposed to go there, nor the storage room.

Don't worry, that can be smoothed over with visually imperceptible differences in pitch.

Exactly, I agreed with you on your allocation of the rooms
That works for us.

That's already good if you are not strictly bound to the square.

Hello everyone,

some time has passed again and my wife and I are currently not really making progress. We have taken a step back and have once again discussed the optimal positioning of the house on the plot.
We have the "luxury" of being the last ones to start building in the immediate neighborhood, so we already know what is being/has been built around us.

I have sketched our plot (outlined in green) including neighboring buildings again and attached it.

How would you place the house including a 6x9 carport on the plot?
Especially considering that we would like to build a city villa with a recessed upper floor (i.e. with an extension on the ground floor)?
Or do you think that based on this plot we should rather turn to a different house style?

I am very grateful for any opinion!

I still find the draft very good. The parking spaces depend on the visitor frequency. We have also built 2 parking spaces in front of the carport specifically for guests. But we have about 4 times as much land. 90% of the time, only the 2 cars are actually parked under the carport. If my land were as big as yours, guests would have to park on the street. For that reason, I would move both buildings up to the 3m line. Of course, if they are there 4 times a week, the situation is different.

Thanks for your opinion!
We would like to keep the area in front of the carport available for guests. Visits from family and friends are more the rule than the exception.

Honestly, your (quite justified) objection regarding the floor plan with the idea of mirroring it made us think. So much so that we even questioned the floor plan that suits us.
The extension can either be (as you suggested) on the west side, whereby the west sun will very likely be completely blocked by this extension (see also the current discussion in the parallel thread: ) or it can, as currently planned, rather be on the south side, whereby we run the risk "that we will rather exclude the sun from the terrace," as you put it.
We like the floor plan and the variant with the extension very much, but at the same time we want to get the best out of the property, so here is my question again, what would you do?
