Laundry room on the upper floor is a luxury, I would like that too. In the basement I find it an absolute no-go..
One should just be aware - if the washing machine is next to the bedroom, you will hardly be able to use it in the evening.

Whether the sauna has to be in the bathroom is a matter of taste. I would probably tend towards a wellness room in the basement, reduce the bathroom size and enlarge the bedroom a bit (about 3m)

I see it like daniels87, the utility room on the upper floor is totally brilliant, but the location of the washing machine in areas where people sleep should be planned very carefully ;) for example in the corner of the house with the bathroom in front as a passage room so that the bathroom can act as soundproofing for other rooms, I also think that there is less noise transmission during the spin cycle if the washing machine is on an exterior wall. or behind the dressing room if there is one :)

This is how we have it, access through the bathroom in the outer corner.

Normally, the washing machine doesn’t run when you’re sleeping anyway. At least I don’t find it very appealing to leave the damp laundry sitting in the machine smelling for the whole night and possibly the following day until you come home from work. And no one will want to get up again when the machine is finished to either hang up the laundry or put it in the dryer. When the dryer is done, you might as well get up again and fold it? So we usually try to do the laundry during the day.

maybe it wasn’t as often as I remember but: my mom had to wash something in the middle of the night more often namely when one or more of her children had wet the bed or vomited there during the night (I was the expert at vomiting). the laundry is then rather not left until the next morning

Ok, but with closed doors you can hear it, although I am very sensitive, I can still sleep...
