Both the dryer and the washing machine often run at night for us. The dryer is almost even louder than the washing machine.

Sure, the washing machine is quieter when it is not spinning. But as I said, if you take the clothes out of the dryer as soon as it is finished and fold the clothes while they are still warm, you can save yourself ironing many items; for this reason alone, laundry is preferably done during the day.

I am a bit surprised by the discussion. We have a fairly recent washer-dryer from Siemens and the thing is so quiet. Of course, proper alignment is important. Mother-in-law has a washer-dryer from Miele. Well, that thing cost three times as much. But you can hardly tell whether the machine is running. No joke! Maybe think about it again before floor plans have to be adjusted for the washing machine
