Why do you make sockets switchable?

What are the USB outlets for? Is there access to some kind of data pool (home hard drive)?

Probably for charging various modern handheld devices

We are not quite that far with our electrical planning yet, but I will probably also decide against an army of sockets. Devices are getting smaller and multifunctional. More and more cables and connections are disappearing.
I actually wanted to move our multimedia board 1:1, but also do a major cleanup. Nobody needs a SCART splitter anymore, the Xbox 1 was used maybe twice in the last 5 years. VHS VCR also never used. If we ever find an old tape, I’ll just connect it to the laptop with an adapter.
Recently saw a sound system without speaker wiring. No idea how mature that really is yet, but it made me think whether the average consumer even needs to bother installing speaker sockets anymore.

So my tendency is clearly less is more.

Then I can disconnect all devices that don't always need to be on, like TV, stereo system, CD player (yes, I prefer to have a high-quality standalone one, but even my little one can operate it) etc. from the power supply at once. Only the devices that need to be on standby still receive power.

My parents use their videocassette recorder daily - and oh wonder - it even plays HD when fed HD, even though the technology is 40 years old. I am by no means a nostalgist, but I do think certain stages of technological development can be questioned... Apple Watch, Samsung Gear, tablet, e-reader, docking stations for specific devices - along with the craze for home technology. It's nice that I can control the heating from on the go, but why? My house is so sluggish that it takes 4 days to noticeably cool down (experienced this especially during screed drying). Maybe I am just too grumpy and skeptical and missing out on the new way of life? Also possible.

Double TV so that I can use the twin tuner. Record and watch at the same time. Audio is speaker wiring.
