Children leave their stuff everywhere. They don’t care whether it’s the kitchen or the living room. Personally, I think that’s totally fine. Then it just looks like a family with toddlers for a few years. So what? That passes too. I don’t have children so they can only play upstairs in their room. That phase comes soon enough anyway.

So I find the distance between the counter and the cabinets in the separate version very tight. Can you still open the drawers well without having to bend awkwardly? Let's ask Kerstin what she thinks about it. Better to carry through the island completely or have a passage at the back?

The idea is the easy accessibility of the sink/trash/dishwasher compared to the U, especially from the dining area and the terrace. 1 meter is currently the planned distance from the counter to the work line.

A simple plan, drawn and with real measurements, certainly helps. Here one is almost overwhelmed by colors, shapes, and also distortions due to the type of representation. A serious planning of space and/or kitchen is always done above that; nice pictures rather come along to inspire.

Separate island allows less space between the rows since you also have a second path, namely passing on the other side of the island.
With an island and good appliance/cabinet planning, 90, sometimes even 80 cm, is enough.
The U (I'm not a fan of U-shapes) then requires, to prevent it from turning into a narrow dead end, a bit more space so that more people can stay there. Preferably 120-150 cm. But that is based on my personal experience.

At this point, the building massing (height levels) composition should already be clarified, but I can't find anything new about that on Roteweste either (?)
