Hello Olli,

What does "concrete core activation" mean and what is it good for? Additional costs, how much? And what does "professional practice" mean?

Rhenish greetings

I would guess that underfloor heating is embedded in the floor slab. Then, of course, you no longer need screed on top of it. However, it is likely to make the heating less responsive.

I am basically a fan of technological progress, but sometimes it also leads to a dead end...

Morning

Yes, there is underfloor heating in the floor slab. The massive thermal mass and its storage capacity are quite advantageous for timber frame construction. Where do you see the dead end in that?

I am an installer and heating engineer master and was self-employed until recently. I had several customers with this floor slab in new builds and all were very satisfied. There are no significant additional costs compared to a normal floor slab with insulation, underfloor heating, and screed.

I am now 45 and will still be able to move the 15 kg sacks for the next 20 years. As I said, a conduit is still planned for a vacuum system. The stove then heats a buffer tank with presumably 1500 liters. The buffer and other heating components will be in a room in the garage adjacent to the utility room. Then there will still be the possibility later to switch to other heat sources. Hot water will also be prepared via the buffer. Whether corrugated pipe or fresh water station is still open.

The slanted exterior wall is a spontaneous idea from last night to open the kitchen a bit more to the dining area and create some extra space. It was previously aligned with the garage wall. We now also have a large refrigerator behind a sliding door in the utility room. The arrangement of the kitchen appliances is not yet fixed. However, stove and sink will definitely be swapped.

With the "subtly integrated," I am somehow stuck at the moment.

Is there anything else that you notice?

Thanks for your interest. If I manage, I will write some more tomorrow about further planning.

Olli

Morning again

Hope the plot plan works out.
No. 2 is supposed to be ours. The slanted wall then runs directly on the building boundary.

Judging by the size and location of the kitchen, it is rarely or reluctantly used

I don't like the whole rear section (living area with kitchen and utility room).

I lack structure, the washing machine is too close to the sofa for my taste, the kitchen is too far from the entrance. The slanted wall adds nothing to the interior; I can imagine it being more interesting if the slanted wall were in a high area. I would arrange the rooms differently: kitchen and living room in the south/southwest, utility room in the southeast, the rest at the back, where the mail carrier doesn't walk by.

Regards Yvonne

Good evening,

Thank you for the information!

Maybe two silly questions; I’m asking them anyway because I’m interested.

How should I imagine it on site; in other words, how is the floor slab made?
How thick is the floor slab overall?

Best regards from the Rhineland
