Although the headline didn't suggest it, I recently saw an interesting statement on this.

I myself am also negative towards power clouds (they seem unprofitable and risky for the customer). However, I was not aware of the advantages of this concept for the overall power grid.
And yes, decentralization is generally the solution. Putting supply in the hands of a few large corporations is difficult, especially when they oppose meaningful change. Football fields full of battery storage or photovoltaic cells are also hard (profitable) to imagine in a "small" western country like ours.
