30 years ago, children also developed in 9sqm without additional communal space. We are currently building with 12sqm. Therefore, your space is more than adequate.

We achieve the same number of rooms and usage in a similar design on 125sqm. Therefore, you are being very generous.

And the toddler phase is significantly shorter than the youth phase. Therefore, this is quite good as it is.

I feel exactly the same way. After visiting various model houses, we were also used to children's rooms of 20 sqm + x and were therefore a bit shocked that our two children's rooms were only supposed to be about 15 sqm each according to the plan.

But then we looked at our former children's rooms again and realized that you can manage with 8 - 9 sqm as well.

We have now stuck with the 15 sqm, and the two rooms seem very spacious and absolutely sufficient.

Regards,

Dirk

Can you say anything else about the floor plan? What do you absolutely not like and should be changed? Any rooms too big or too small? What do you think of the floor plan in L-shape? I think it will be a matter of taste, right?

A simple rectangular floor plan might be cheaper and saves heating energy by reducing surface area.

It will probably not be barrier-free with a split-level construction if that matters to you (age, illness). We are planning our house so that we can live barrier-free on the ground floor in old age and the upper floor can optionally be rented out after the children move out.

Split level is due to the property, so that no filling has to be done first and it is simply planned or built with the property. Of course, we can’t achieve barrier-free access this way, but we were aware of that.
