Hi guys,

I just started a list of things I don’t want to forget when building a house.
It’s more about "small things." So I thought, maybe you want to add to the list for me and future builders?
It would be nice to keep making the list longer, and to keep discussions like "oh, you don’t need that" to a minimum : )
Then you can just go through the "list" here, and everyone can think to themselves "I need that too" or "oh, what nonsense" : )

I’ll just start:

1. Outdoor water tap
2. Motion sensor light (hallways, pantry)
3. (Passive) stair lighting (spots directed downward)
4. Prepare empty conduits for photovoltaic
5. High-voltage power in garage
6. Switchable power in the garden
7. Provide camera at front door
8. LAN connection (3x living room, 2x office, 1x per child, 1x bedroom)
9. Window seat bench
10. Door in garage (from outside, not from the house)

Hope you have a few good ideas : )

best regards

Except for 1) and 10), all of that would be unimportant or unnecessary to me. That won’t do. Ro.

Also fearing that this will become too individual

Outdoor area
Water, electricity for outdoor kitchen
Terrace lighting
Electricity for garden lighting
Irrigation system
Water, electricity for whirlpool, swimming pool
Outdoor water tap on every side of the house, with large gardens another one in the green area
Outdoor sockets not only on the terrace (should be placed on a separate RCD or otherwise switchable)
Cistern
Space for rain barrel
For sloped plots, every level accessible with trailer, wheelbarrow, lawn mower, hand truck

Garage, carport
Lighting
High-voltage power
Sufficient sockets for workbench

House
Wide doors
No thresholds, steps, or ledges
Reinforced construction at the toilets or underpinned with solid wood for retrofitting grab rails (eventually you won’t be able to get up so easily anymore, even if it takes another 30 years)
Electricity at the stairs for a stairlift (if it becomes necessary)
Stairs wide enough for a lift
(no, we don’t want to squeeze ourselves into the ground floor in old age and leave the upper floor unoccupied)

Thanks! Thanks to you I was able to expand my list! 60% of your suggestions are already planned anyway. I was able to take away the power connection for the elevator! Of course it’s all very individual - but don’t dismiss it just because nothing comes to mind (may come to mind). It may be that 90% is superfluous for you, but about a generation separates us both. For you automated living is gimmicky - for me it’s the future. You want to mow the lawn on Saturdays - I want to watch my robot. Perfect - another new point on my list 11. Connection for mower robot (just power? Or also LAN? I’ll Google it : ) I would still be happy to receive more "individual wishes" lists. Best regards

Then plan outdoor sockets.

But window seats, heavy current, and any kind of indirect lighting are definitely personal individual equipment wishes and do not belong to the title "What should not be forgotten when building a house"

Your tone takes some getting used to. Those seeking assistance should at least adhere to the basic rules of politeness.
