So, I live opposite a senior residence with an attached nursing home. At first, I also thought it was a quiet neighborhood. But that was a complete misjudgment. I would never move into the neighborhood of such a facility again.
Several times a day and even at night, the ambulance with its siren comes driving by. After a while, that can become quite exhausting if you cannot have your bedroom on the side of the building facing away. That is not possible for me, and with the continuous blue light during the operation, which can sometimes last longer, I have to close the shutters completely because otherwise, I have a disco in the bedroom. But what I find worst is the noise level when the windows are open. My apartment is opposite the nursing unit, and the seniors naturally also have their windows open at warm temperatures, even at night (and I necessarily do too). Here and there, some medical devices beep, and one or another person also calls out and screams sometimes for hours, sometimes day and night. That is really terrible. I have already been close several times to going to the home at night and telling them that someone has been loudly calling for help for hours. Don’t get me wrong! I have nothing against such facilities or against seniors!!! On the contrary. And the facility also has a good reputation. But I find the noise, especially the screams and calls of the obviously confused, really stressful. My children have already promised me never to put me in such a facility. In contrast, I find the kindergarten next door almost a blessing, and sometimes there is hell breaking loose there. "Dance alarm" at room volume in the home office is already a challenge.
