I have already explained several times, sometimes quite extensively, where the "architects are billing artists" myth comes from or with which candidates it actually has a true core. However, the vast majority of established independent architects handle this topic well.

Awarding is a field of competence on its own and the training of civil engineers and architects is certainly different, but at least he will be significantly closer to the topic of awarding than the average private builder.

The topic is becoming relevant again. Does the insurance also cover contract matters?
Due to the current crisis times (Corona, war), some general contractors and/or construction companies are breaking contracts, meaning fixed price guarantees, construction time guarantees, etc. are not being honored. Are these also covered by the building owner’s legal protection?

At least you will be provided with a legal consultation (which is also covered) that first clarifies whether a breach of contract has occurred. Then, based on his assessment, the lawyer usually submits a coverage request. If it is approved (I can only speculate about what factors are involved here, probably also the chances of success), then, as I understand it, everything up to 100,000 EUR is paid. Of course, there are various escalation stages. You can also always try a mediation procedure before suing.

Or does private legal expenses insurance rather apply in such contract matters?
In the cases mentioned, it would not be about poor construction work or the like.

Doesn't matter. As soon as it involves the construction or purchase of a building, the "normal" PRSV is no longer applicable.

I wanted to add something on the topic of ARAG: I read here that only disputes up to €10,000 are covered. However, from my point of view, that is not correct – ARAG literally states: "Kommt es zum Rechtsstreit, übernehmen wir die Anwalts- und Gerichtskosten bis zu 10.000 Euro" Of course, that is a difference.
