Why with you? I can only report from my experience, which the statement also referred to: general contractor (GU) here in Franconia, 3 plumbing lines that did not suit us. The reasons should not matter, but I will mention them anyway so it’s not said again "bling bling" or "naive designer bathroom." We prefer, fitting to our house, rather cubic shapes, which were simply not available. So I had sampled beforehand in consultation with the GU and asked to offer me what I have in my rental apartment. Duravit Starck 3. Certainly nothing bling-bling and nothing that could seriously be considered a "designer" bathroom, even though Philippe Starck is a designer. Plus fittings from VuB (Just). One master bathroom, one guest bathroom. Price according to sampling (Giener+Funk) 16,000 EUR!!! Asked the GU what the surcharge would be then. Answer: 16,000 EUR!!! Asked why nothing is charged, since it is a standard included in the house price. Answer: that’s just the price from the plumber... so, jokingly I put exactly the same items with all the accessories into the cart at Reuter: almost 9 EUR... Now please tell me, isn’t that a hefty surcharge for (upscale) standard ceramics, or is all this completely fine?
For the price difference, the local plumber I commissioned, who is not tied to the GU, may well charge around 300 EUR per property for installation. Then he benefits, I support the local medium-sized business with its employees and not some squeezed subcontractor who, due to low margins, has to outsource the job to potentially mediocre qualified "craftsmen" from abroad and has to struggle health-wise over special customer requests.
Moreover, with about 10 properties, I come to 3,000 EUR and could even in the worst case, that a bowl once had a hairline crack, cracked during tightening and Reuter or whoever does NOT replace it, easily buy the material again and still be cheaper.
I’m just quoting this part. It contains a statement that isn’t finished. 16,000 versus 9,000, that’s huge. So who actually installed it for how much? You don’t write that. Son-in-law, who built 200 meters from us, got similarly annoyed about the plumbing surcharge. He also wanted to supply the goods on-site. Information from the plumbing company: I only install if you buy from me. No ifs or buts. No reason, apology, excuse. I don’t do it. Period. Way out: the kids took the standard, moved in January, now exchanged in October, installed by an after-work handyman paid cash. — Again: it doesn’t matter how you’d like it. But which way is possible in the situation now. Karsten
