Over 35 degrees

No, we don't live in the house, we just built it that way

You didn't believe it last year either

As long as it cools down at night, a passive house simply works

I don't really know about insulation and so on, but shouldn't houses be insulated or designed in such a way that you are independent of the outside temperatures inside the house?

We are now buying a house that, according to an energy report from 10 years ago, was already considered an unrenovated old building. We were there recently when it was about 35°C outside and in the living rooms, which face north, it was a cool 20 - 22°C, without any fancy heating or cooling systems and without shutters. Of course, it's warmer under the roof, but bearable, and even in the south-facing rooms, it was not 25°C. Heating in winter is logical, but in summer you should be able to retreat into the house without having to use any expensive systems.

As I said, I don't know much about it, but I just don't understand why some people sweat in their new buildings and need expensive systems and darkening through shutters when I can relax in my house, which is classified as an unrenovated old building, in the "cold happiness."

Without shading, it doesn't work for us. I suspect that it is then similarly warm inside as outside.

The insulation keeps cold and also heat out. During the day, a house gets warmer due to cooking (who needs that weather for it), electronics, body heat, etc. For that, it cools down at night. Through ventilation mechanically and/or automatically.

Then with new buildings you have the problem that once they are heated up and the heat is stored in the walls etc., you can't get it out that easily anymore. Ventilation doesn't help much with that either.

Some people do not set their ventilation system to bypass and the heat recovery runs as well.

It doesn’t only depend on the age. Thick walls also provide protection, a shady location and small windows also play a role. Many old buildings aren’t actually bad in terms of temperature, although they only have more or less peepholes. But with large windows, the situation quickly changes.

We currently have 24 degrees on the ground floor and 25 degrees on the upper floor. I honestly find it pleasant and wouldn’t want it any cooler (but I also love it warm and accordingly we usually have around 23 degrees in the house in winter). We always open the shutters during the day on the sides of the house where the sun is. On the ground floor in the living rooms we have [Raffstores] and I love it. The sun stays outside and it’s still bright daylight in the room. When I see the neighbors who sit all day with the shutters down in the living area, I am always grateful that I chose [Raffstores]. Still, cooling is really a nice thing, I don’t want to deny that. In our old apartment (attic) we often had 28 degrees or more day and night in the rooms and I really found that awful.

Some people here really talk nonsense! At night >20 degrees (or significantly above!, upcoming night in Cologne 26 degrees as the lowest temperature!) it doesn't cool down inside at all. And even a passive house heats up or do they have small windows nowadays? And neither venetian blinds nor roller shutters keep 100% of the heat out. The fact is: A detached house at the current!!! temperatures (over a few days!) cannot be kept below 25..26 degrees without cooling. Let it be over 35 degrees for a week and at night > 25 then you also have 28 inside! Bet on it..
