The general question was what does a windbreak cost? Further contextual questions were not answered. Therefore, a general answer applies.

For example, I have considered tiling the hallway upstairs. I do not ask here how much it costs. Instead, I ask the construction company or the architect.

No. If the house already maintains the minimum distance to the street, neighbors, or whatever, construction in these zones can be legally difficult.

The general question was what does a windbreak cost? Further related questions were not answered. Ergo, a general answer follows.

Hello, we have already spoken with our architect; he thinks it could be difficult because the foundation slab might develop cracks since it is not connected to the house’s foundation slab. He wants to discuss more details with us on the construction site. The windbreak should be built with masonry and a flat roof. It would be located directly in front of the actual entrance. Nothing would need to be changed on the roof since it does not extend beyond the ground floor. I thought there might be some people who have already added a windbreak of similar size afterward and could share their experiences with me here.

Yes, we are building with architects and individual contracts. Almost all trades have already been awarded. Of course, we are aware that here and there a few extra euros will come up. The electrician is already doing the chases and laying empty conduits. Yes, we have also taken out some trades like the entire roof including the tinsmith because we have carpenters in our circle of friends who offered to do that for us. Here we only pay for the material costs.
And no, it will not take months for the roof to be finished, to get ahead of that. The plumbing will be done by my brother-in-law, which was not originally planned but came about that way.

When building with architects, isn’t the biggest advantage that you are so flexible and can also exclude trades and thus save the actual (labor) costs here? Not so with the general contractor who just deducts so much from the bill that you can’t even cover the material costs. Or am I misunderstanding something, and you were not allowed to exclude trades because otherwise the architect would receive less fee? That was not the case with us.

What do the individual trades of others have to do with your windbreak and the cost question? I thought we were staying on topic?

Many here build with a general contractor, some take trades out, yes. But in this forum it has never been discussed that with a general contractor not enough space was planned in the entrance area, that during the construction phase one already got a bad feeling that the space might not be sufficient. Basically, people are rather satisfied with their choice, even if some ways of a good design seem to be more difficult with a general contractor.

If you mean me: I was simply confused by this "remove". For example, I would never say that we removed the windows - they were never part of a complete package anyway, we just do them ourselves.

But your architect seems very overly cautious. First, (much?) too high costs estimated, now a technical alarmist. Other people build half houses onto the existing structure and it works. So don't be discouraged...
