Add a wind catch later to the shell construction

I already suspected that the "know-it-alls" would come along saying you haven't awarded everything yet and there are still this and that cost coming your way. Do you know how much our architect planned for the shell without the roof? And do you know which trades we have already awarded and by how much the offers differ and which trades we possibly removed entirely and will do ourselves? No!! And I don't want to go into that because it is not up for debate here!

I only ask those who can answer my question to respond: What could such a windbreak cost and whether it could be difficult to add it afterwards.

To add once more, eight and three-quarter smarty-pants: without facts, the answer must be "from-to." Windbreak 6 sqm means nothing, it can be built of masonry or like a conservatory, may have an additional door or not, and so on. The actual adding on, i.e. not having built it at the same time, costs nothing extra. It needs a base slab, but you say nothing about any other fundamentals: should it only block the wind (i.e. be an add-on) or should the house actually start there (relocation of the front door into the windbreak, windbreak already within the thermal envelope, i.e. insulated; included in the underfloor heating or not) – how is anyone supposed to say anything qualified completely blind??? – especially not something like you're looking at four thousand or something similar.

Well, since you have an architect who has calculated generously enough and you apparently don't have to worry about money anymore: ask the architect what he thinks about it. Such a rough estimate for costs and effort should be something he can give without any additional fee... although the few euros for the architect shouldn't be an issue if he really wants something just for the consultation.

Edit: just read that you are "removing trades" - are you now building with an architect/ individual trade contracts or with a general contractor?!

But probably there won't be any answer anyway, since I belong to the smart alecks who just simply asked the question whether you can really be sure about the prices and wanted to point out that nothing is safe with individual trade contracts...

He gets it anyway. The house is getting more complex, the fee increases accordingly.

I'll throw out a rough estimate. The costs range between €6,000 and €15,000.

Additionally, the [Windfang] can be attached without any problems.

I don't think you can say that so generally. We have a masonry porch with a concrete ceiling at the entrance (90cm x 380cm), which already cost 3,000 euros; another construction company even wanted 8,000 euros for it. With the windbreak, you would need to know how elaborately it is built visually (heating, windows, stairs, etc.) and it would also have to fit into the building window.

Best regards
Sabine
