Addendum: I can also live in a nice hotel for a while.

Had understood your posts as if you were still looking for a construction company. Watch out, many are fully booked for next year and don’t even start. Don’t let anything be botched or the contract contain so much fine print that you end up paying for 4 months of hotel stay.

I probably expressed myself unclearly. We have not yet signed a house purchase contract, but our favorite at least assured us orally that we could move in by December 2020 at the latest. If that is not stated in the contract later, I don't know whether we will sign or continue to look. The short construction time was a criterion for us. We are already older and don’t have as much time as most house builders. For this reason, a house "built to last forever" is not so important to us. If it stands for 25 years, that is enough for us.

Be careful, even if a contractual penalty is stipulated in the contract for exceeding the completion date, it is limited to 5% of the construction sum. Furthermore, it must be proven that the delay was caused by the contractor, which means weather-related interruptions, issues with suppliers, or ground conditions are not the contractor's responsibility and extend the construction time without entitlement to the contractual penalty on your part. And you have no idea how quickly you can receive a hindrance notification due to bad weather. The nice hotel then very quickly becomes your expense,

One simply does not terminate their current apartment just because someone promises to have a house finished in 9 months. You can easily avoid the stress by having a buffer. Plan for two double rents and the whole thing is absolutely stress-free. Terminate then one month before completion.
