: It sounds like you are a perfectly complementary team. Very likeable how you describe the play between ambition and calm with a wink. My wife and I are both rather lazy. What must be done – when you break it down to the essentials – is not much. Motto: How quickly nothing gets done. Nevertheless, we are always surprised at how much eventually does get done and we manage quite a bit.

I think a flock/group of 4-5 chickens is roughly enough for personal use. Well, not if your sons eat scrambled eggs. Was at the company here on a Saturday once, where 3 gentlemen threw 20 eggs, a huge block of Gouda, and what felt like half a pig into the pan.

Friends of mine also know the problems with intruders. They have now converted an old brick-built pigsty into a chicken coop and the adjacent grass garden is the run.

Do you already have an idea there? I don’t know if we should make everything on one level or with a step...

I was in favor of simply paving with a slope, I don't find it visually so bad, it's barrier-free and significantly cheaper. Was rejected by my girlfriend. Therefore, it will probably be a step about 24 cm high. As a border probably the clinker brick of the base masonry and on top mosaic paving stones made of granite. Not quite so optimal in snow and ice, but we hardly have any snow up here anymore and I have to salt anyway.

There is a development plan. And since we are quite ordinary, average people, we are building in an ordinary and average way, nothing special. The most special thing nowadays at least are the shutters, which we can do without if necessary.
