See my second to last post ... Find a window installer and ask him how much more it would cost, everyone calculates it differently.

So for us, [Raffstore] would mean additional costs of about 10,000 euros. As a rule of thumb - without guarantee - you can assume a 75% surcharge compared to roller shutters. The [CDL] costs twice as much as roller shutters. We will probably combine roller shutters with [Raffstore], although I would prefer it to be uniform.

I am torn between the decision Roma GL80 (edge-bordered) or the CDL. Do you have to have the CDL or is the GL (equivalent to the Warema 80 S) sufficient? Has anyone here installed it by chance? The venetian blinds are only for the living/dining area. The other rooms will have aluminum roller shutters.

We have uniform CDL everywhere, including the bedroom etc. The reason was better darkening, less rattling, and higher wind stability. Honestly, I also find the CDL visually quite good ;)

In the living/dining area, the above-mentioned arguments may be less important, so the GL80 (which I do not know) might also be suitable. Things that the CDL cannot do are to tilt the slats upwards on the outside (e.g., to have privacy to the street on an upper floor), as well as partial darkening of the lower area (i.e., closing the lower half and keeping the upper horizontal for visibility). Whether the GL80 can do this and whether that is relevant for you, I obviously cannot assess.

We are planning something similar at our place. On the ground floor, we want to install Venetian blinds (also Roma CDL), among other things because of the better controllable shading. On the upper floor, where the bedrooms and children's rooms will be, we are currently set on roller shutters. The main reason for this is the better darkening of roller shutters (you can create the darkest night with them). In general, we like Venetian blinds much better than roller shutters, but especially in the bedroom, it should be completely dark.

Unfortunately, I haven't had the chance to see how dark the Roma CDL really can get. Does anyone here have them in use and could possibly take a photo during the day with the slats fully closed?

Unless one intends to sleep during the day and does not have the street lighting right outside the bedroom window, the concern about too bright a bedroom is unfounded. Apart from the fact that it is a matter of getting used to anyway. Also remember that you are in the living room, the children are often in the children's room. Why should they sit in the dark?
