First of all, a big thank you to Hangman for still thinking of me elsewhere!! And a big thank you to you saralina87 for posting here! May I ask what RAL color you have on your windows? You could think they are still a shade of anthracite... The frame width is true, but ours won't be any narrower either . Does it bother you too much, or would you do it differently now? I'm considering whether it would be worth having a separate thread about this by now? What do you think? To say something more about the venetian blinds topic, we have now received confirmation from the home builder that the CDL slat can also be installed for us and will therefore be commissioned! We are very happy about that because in between we even got to see it live in a stranger’s show home. The only thing that personally still bothers me a bit is the blackout. I am actually someone who tapes over a glowing LED with insulating tape because it bothers me at night. Before the CDL slat, I had always thought about installing an additional blackout system inside the bedroom over the years. The home builder could also create a wall casing for this additional box inside, so the system would mostly disappear. What do you think Hangman, is the effort worth it or is it close to a roller shutter in terms of darkness? Your pictures look good, but still a bit bright, our bedroom faces the east/south corner.

Gladly!

No, we would do it exactly the same way again. We had white plastic windows in our apartment before, so we have a direct comparison. :)

It is actually more anthracite, that is RAL 7016, completely black would have been a bit too harsh for me personally. This way, the windows also harmonize well with dark wooden furniture, which usually isn't really completely black either.

From me too, a big thank you for the great photos and information. We are also planning with dark frames inside and outside. I always waver a bit whether that is a good idea, but the pictures convince me every time again :)

But you have plastic windows, right?

As I have mentioned several times, RAL is not Pantone. RAL shades are not defined independently of material, so a window in the "same" shade will very likely not be color-identical to that of the neighbors if a different manufacturer was chosen. Similarly, you can be almost certain that the shade of the windows will differ from that of the roof tiles with the same RAL number (so it's better to choose a clearly intended deviation).

No one has denied that ;).

It was simply clearly visible that it is not a true black, hence my (in my opinion) justified question about it. Of course, there are always deviations between the materials on which the color is applied or the process used to "color" or whatever... But here the color deviation is even more striking, because the designation itself already indicates anthracite and not black between RAL 7016 (Anthracite Grey) and, for example, RAL 9005 (Jet Black).

I think nuances in anthracite tones can be tolerated (especially on the roof), but black is indeed clearly distinguishable from it. To stay with your example of the roof tiles (reference to the other thread), I have meanwhile received the samples. The two ordered shades of gray are identifiable as gray here as well, and the two black shades are actually black.

For me personally, this direction is sufficient; it is recognizable as black and accordingly matches black windows. Conversely, it would also be recognizable, and I would not choose black tiles with anthracite-colored windows here (regardless of which gray) and vice versa.

What I still have to decide for myself is whether black might be too black. :D
