When "dark gray" becomes a "very crazy play of colors" with "aluminum gray" and "white," acute anthracitis (ICD-10-H7016) is probably a possible diagnosis ;-)

Very cool :D, I kind of feel like that afterwards...

I just read it again, somehow there was a glitch, true, it's not such a crazy combination after all :).

I recently saw black windows (like really black) with black blinds (also completely black), aluminum window sills (some kind of anodized aluminum that really looked like aluminum) and white plaster facade. It blew me away so much that I told myself, that's it... Only afterwards did the concerns about heat and dirt come up . Is the heat really that intense with today's houses? Dirt yes, but (among other reasons) that's also why the CDL slat.

We have had the Z Lamelle from roma since 2018. I have never cleaned it before because OG. I have always been dissatisfied with them because they simply do not darken, similar to the picture of my predecessor …. Roller shutters didn’t work for us because the ring beam was in the way …. Then one time the rope came out, but we thought it had broken and called customer service. They repaired the one in the bedroom and adjusted something in the process. When they left, I noticed: now one is 100 times darker than before … So tomorrow the customer service will come and adjust all the others as well, so that it is dark (-:

- I haven’t really cleaned them properly yet, the ones on the ground floor I once cleaned in summer with a garden hose, next summer I will use soapy water beforehand and then gently spray them off.

- Regarding the heating, well, dark colors simply absorb heat faster, for example when they are down and in summer you open the window, the heat comes toward you :-) But we will soon get a controlled residential ventilation system and then the windows will be opened even less.

- Regarding KNX, all the venetian blinds are integrated via KNX for me, I can control each one individually via the Gira app or glass switches, which also means adjusting the angle.

My wife initially only wanted roller shutters... but I absolutely wanted venetian blinds and today she says:

+ no curtains needed
+ looks nicer
+ darkens the room
+ lets light in
plus the combo with KNX = perfect

I took a few photos for you:

Window frame and guide rail in RAL7015 (Slate Grey), windowsill in natural anodized aluminum, venetian blind in gray aluminum. In the photo, the gray aluminum appears more distinct than in reality: from the inside you can't really see it because it gets lost in back and diffuse light, and from the outside you only notice it when the blinds are completely closed (so at night when it doesn’t really matter anyway :) ).

My point about heating refers less to the heating of the interior (which is probably not a problem) and more to the material expanding and possibly warping as a result. With the venetian blinds probably not an issue, but with the windowsills certainly it is. Furthermore, powder coating in color is more complex/expensive and more susceptible to scratches than anodized aluminum. And with older powder-coated metals, there is often also this unsightly faded matte effect caused by years of UV radiation. Whether this is still relevant with new/better methods, I don’t know – I just played it safe.

Okay, so not excessive heat in the house, but simply more when you open the window, that sounds good, I was already a bit shocked. Floor cooling is also planned for us and controlled residential ventilation comes automatically through Kfw 40, so everything sounds good and not really worse because of the black. :) KNX would really be a great thing, but the budget doesn't really allow it, you have to make compromises and consider what is more important to you... That's why "Smart Home" will probably have to be implemented differently. But I have to say that, contrary to my assumption that I was crazy (because of Alexa, Hue, Tado & Co.), I am probably still quite reasonable in my idea of Smart Home :). (If you read around here in the forum, my Smart Home is actually just an extended remote control. But that's perfectly fine, I don't need (or want) that much and am very satisfied with my current solutions for the rental apartment. Now, for the house, a few more "practical" things have to be planned (or improved) like "smart" switches (the Hue buttons are somehow stupid) and the blinds should preferably also be controllable in a scene-based way via Apple's HomeKit. But for that, I'll open a separate thread in due time, I still have to think about what I really want and how it should work in detail.) Thanks for your response so far! Thank you very much for your effort with the pictures! I like it too, somehow consistent! I think my idea of black/black/silver (window/blinds/window sill) could fit well and I hope it fits thermally. Could you maybe tell me your exact anodized color? I like it very much (it should be something with EV and/or C-xx).
