Hello, my questions go in a very similar direction, so I’ll just use this thread for that. We are currently building a new house and are about to start the electrical installation. If I have learned one thing so far during the construction, it is that you shouldn’t rely on the so-called specialist companies when it comes to competent advice. I want to equip the new building in a future-oriented way, but I’m not a "nerd" or an extreme streamer or anything like that. My current usage is limited to gaming on the PC, watching Netflix… so basically a standard usage that does not require any extraordinary measures. But I want to bring the house to a level where I (hopefully) don’t have to replace the cables for the next 15 years - who knows what networking, devices, and video qualities will come our way... By the way, we don’t have a smart home. From what I’ve read so far, I would lay Cat.7 cables in empty conduits in all reasonable rooms. Although with RJ45 connectors (which ultimately "downgrades" the performance to Cat.6a), the performance would still be more than sufficient even then, and you would have planned ahead, have very high-quality cables, and if the time comes you can replace the connectors and at least already have a more powerful cable inside the wall. As of now, I would install a double network socket in the study, living room, master bedroom, and children’s rooms. Kitchen and bathroom rather not. How do you see it, is that a somewhat sensible plan? Or do you have other suggestions or opinions? Best regards
