I’m bumping this up, so I don’t have to start a new topic...
For me, the choice of flooring was also urgent, and I found it a difficult process.
The only clear points were:
- Tiles only where necessary (bathrooms, utility room). When I’ve been in a vacation apartment that was fully tiled, I found that very unpleasant.
- No laminate in my house.
- Carpet… actually not anymore either, because it’s just too hard to keep clean...
- "Real" wooden floorboards were out of budget, but I would have liked them in principle.
So I considered vinyl, parquet, and PVC sheet flooring. Recently at a specialty store, there was also a tip about cork flooring (as a click variant in plank form). Parquet in the living room was basically "set," but I’ve often heard many complaints that the surface is so sensitive, with lots of dents and scratches… my parents, at least, are very dissatisfied.
In the end, I decided on cork for the living room, children’s room, and bedroom, and wanted vinyl for the kitchen, entrance area, and hallway. Now the plumber frowned, saying cork would be a disaster with underfloor heating, and if he had known, he would have installed an extra radiator in the living room for me...
So now I’m thoroughly unsettled again.
Has anyone used cork flooring like that and can share their experience?
