So first of all thank you very much for all the responses!

Even if many are critical, yes that's why I ask people who actually have experience.

And yes I know myself that it is very tight.

We have about €25,000 in equity...
I earn €2,900, we then get about €400 child benefit, €250 state parental allowance and then my wife also gets €370. The problem is, she did not work between child 1 and child 2 and therefore receives the minimum rate.
We certainly have more expenses that I have not all noted...
At the moment I put about €400 aside. Unfortunately, I have lived like a king in recent years and spent like crazy. Of course I regret that ^^

What do you generally think about the topic of real estate? Will it rather continue to go steadily upwards?

There are still government support programs or not? Are they so lousy that they're not even worth mentioning?
If she works again, eventually maybe only part-time at 50%. Our children definitely come first as long as they are so small. I think she will earn about €1,200 then. Full-time is not an option for now.
I imagine a house with 5 rooms and 120-140 sqm.

I see some examples of people who have a similar situation to mine and actually did it that way.

But for the most part I see that it probably won't work...

Most regular forum members don’t "see" you as a homebuilder... because your income is supposedly low, etc. But that’s not true; rather, the lack of equity is usually the problem. I can only speak from my own experience and say that equity is the most important lever for real estate financing. Therefore, the advice is: keep saving and possibly buy the plot of land. Just calculate how much you can save over the next 2-3 years. Since there is probably a building obligation on the plot, you shouldn’t wait too long to start building the house. Before you accept online consulting appointments, go to your local bank and explore all options first.

If yes, then calculate everything WITHOUT any subsidies etc. If you should then get something, yes, but often it just doesn’t work out or something else happens. Maybe first look at some used properties that you can then gradually optimize to get a better feeling for the whole thing. If someone tells you they know how the future will develop, please let me know. If they say "Good" they are a chatterbox, if they say "Bad" they just changed the word but remain the same chatterbox. But if they really know it (there are increasingly more classic know-it-alls) then you are a happy person because you have met Jesus. I think you know what I mean.......look at many things yourself, ask, learn and act as carefully as possible.

1200€ from above minus 1100€ loan repayment leaves 100€ for all additional costs... hmm... I think you realize yourself that several hundred euros are missing per month. Not to mention that 1100€ is not enough.

The question about government subsidies is, let's say, strange. You are already getting almost 1000€ per month thrown at you by the taxpayers. So how much more do you want?

I suggest living frugally for another 2 years, building equity, and working purposefully on the dream of owning your own home. But as of today, with the given information, a house is not financially feasible for you. Please don't take it the wrong way.

€400 is still money. And for 30 years old, it's perfectly fine if you haven't thought about saving and owning property yet.
It's up to you to change your habits and goals, it's all good.
But you should be able to afford a house without subsidies at first – otherwise, it will hurt at some point when you suddenly have to cover the debts yourself in 10 years.
