The difference simply lies in the fact that the slats of venetian blinds are set more or less horizontally and thus cast a shadow on the slat below. In this way, the slats can cast a dancing floor-like shadow without the surface having to be completely opaque. This way, direct radiation stays outside, but reflected light can enter. Roller shutters have vertical slats that cannot shade each other.I am of the opinion that there is always a setting for blinds and venetian blinds where both let in the same amount of light.
