Front door - door code or fingerprint?

As far as I know, the type of scanning is different - with the smartphone scanner you just hold your finger on it, with ekey you have to actually swipe over it. According to information on the internet, ekey does 3D scanning, which is apparently not the case with smartphones. Allegedly, people have already unlocked iPhones using a nipple (which I find quite funny to imagine, whoever comes up with the idea and actually does it).

Without knowing and evaluating the technology now. I had written on page 1 about my problems with the fingerprint scanner on the phone.

That is exactly how it is with my wife's S6 - works flawlessly.

That is exactly how the scanner works on my S5 - or rather, unfortunately, it doesn't work at all and causes the problems described at the beginning.

Sorry - I just had to add that again. But it is very possible that the technology in the door opener is much more advanced.

I would claim that - but there are people for whom it doesn’t work or works very poorly.

Or heavily burdened fingers - but with the S5 you had to swipe over it? How uncomfortable...

The advantage of the fingerprint is that you can allow specific people access without them being able to pass on this key. You can also temporally restrict the fingerprint for the person depending on the provider. For example, you can let the cleaning staff in, the holiday watering, etc., all without the risk of someone losing the key or copying it (or passing on the code). The most elegant version is probably the keyless variant like in cars, where you just have to stand close enough. However, you lose the convenience of "passing on the key without having to ask for it back."

That is why we decided on the fingerprint.

That is really a good argument for biometric recognition as a door opener. I would be curious about experience reports after some time, how well it works (e.g. for all people) or after swimming pool visits and similar situations (although you still have a key).

I am following this thread closely and it was through this that I even got the idea to implement this convenient system for my house construction next year. How much does this fingerprint cost approximately? What requirements need to be met? And if, for example, you grant people temporary access to the house via the fingerprint, can you set this yourself or do you have to do it online, for example?!
