Trash bins or not? "Hide" or not? Photos?

Wrong question :D
What do you mean by should? Either it is regulated in the development plan, then you plan it accordingly. And if it is not regulated, then usually you do not think about it and arrange it for yourself in a practical way. Whether they are "allowed to be visible" is then rather secondary, because you plan for yourself and not for spectators.
At my old town house, the bins were next to the front door. It couldn't be done differently, but it was ugly.
Now, as already said in the other thread, we have neutral boxes that practically hide them quite well. They don't have to hide because of others, but I like it that way because I want a nice, well-maintained courtyard and entrance area that welcomes me without trash.

With us, the development plan stipulates that the trash bins must not be visible from the street. Not even if they are hidden in expensive metal containers. We have not yet discussed this with the garden and landscaping contractor, but somehow I am now favoring simply storing the bins in the garage. I would have wished for the same care from our urban planners on other issues, which were unfortunately forgotten in the development plan… ‍

Garage or shed.

We also have a corresponding regulation here, which I do not find so bad at all. However, boxes are allowed.

A few years ago there was already a post with trash bins and even a [KellerLift] was posted there. Only the forum search is not helpful.

We have no regulations. But honestly, that is mainly a matter of money for me at the beginning. I don't think I want to spend a lot of money on a nice shelter for my trash.

I would like a rhombus-shaped little house with a green roof. But for now, the bins will be parked between the house and the garage and possibly concealed with bamboo or something similar.

The answer to the "why" is that, in my opinion, they are unsightly and most of us try, among other things, to avoid unsightliness around their houses and gardens ... I wanted to find out why the storage of garbage bins is so often exempted from this. Setting up garbage bins so that others can see them (except on collection day), but you yourself cannot, seems contradictory to me.

If you’re referring to the thread about the snail-shaped hedge: I thought for a long time about whether I could combine this and that ;-) thread, but I didn’t know how and also not how to add a survey afterwards.

The survey agrees with you. :)

I didn’t mean "allowed" in the sense of legislation. It’s about one’s own inner "aesthetic compass," whether it permits it or not. ;-)

Me too. I like it that way at our place and at others’. :)

According to our development plan, they must not be visible either, but "boxing them in" is allowed.
