5 months and in a hurry? so we were in a hurry and it could easily have been another week faster if the company had filled out the correct rainwater drainage application right away (they sent us basin infiltration but wanted a shaft...). furthermore, the post office was striking exactly at that time, mail only arrived after more than a week. overall, you could easily have saved another 2 weeks. for us, there was exactly 1 day between approval and start. we were scheduled beforehand simply because they knew the plan would go through. without approval, we wouldn’t have started either. in general: as a builder, you control the pace yourself with the authorities if you are fancy. if you leave approvals lying around at home for weeks, everything takes longer. if you scan the approval at home immediately and send it out by email, everything goes really quickly. for 2 months, in addition to an 11-hour workday, I had another 3-4 hours per day of house organization on my plate. on Saturdays, there was always something to go and look at so that we could move forward with decisions (kitchen, stairs, windows, bricks, etc...). after 4.5 months of time pressure, I needed 2 weeks where I really did nothing at all

Our BU has its timing, and so each BU will work through its orders. Maybe you can shave off 1 to 2 weeks, but it takes as long as it takes! Whether you're in a hurry or not. In the end, the drying time also takes as long as it takes. Understood, ?

something like that I thought this afternoon too. with this attitude, you will certainly experience a rude awakening. why should the excavator be standing around there already? an excavator costs money every day, so why should it be parked somewhere. it arrives exactly on the day the work starts (at most 1-2 days before).

before construction begins, normally:
- construction sign (advertising!)
- the porta potty
- construction water/construction electricity (you may have to organize this yourselves)
- possibly a site trailer or something similar

there is definitely no start of construction before you have submitted a building notification to the authorities. 3 weeks since signing? what has been done there so far with you? floor plan set?

look again carefully what is stated in the contract about the 8 months construction period. it definitely says something about "from slab" or similar.

As you can see from the different experience reports here, it depends on the respective contractor as well as their workload and planning.
For us, the excavator was already on the property before we had the building permit back because our property was one of the few where the excavation could be completely stored on the side. On many other construction sites, work could not start at that time because the weather would not have been suitable for transport.

So it's best to ask the respective contractors and have the latest completion date (regardless of the start of construction or similar) written into the contract.

As mentioned in passing and we forgot: The weather plays a very important role in house construction. What doesn't work, doesn't work. They can write as many deadlines as they want into the contract - always in the small print without guarantee, if the weather does not meet deadlines and further logistics are delayed.
