If there is a smell in the room, go around and see if it smells stronger somewhere. In the corners of the room, from the sockets, the tilted window, on the ceiling, it has to come from somewhere
It is also curious that in the evening (like right now) there is no smell anymore, but this morning there definitely was…
Yes, exactly the same is happening to me! I hope we will still get to the bottom of the triggers! If it smells like that again tomorrow morning, I will go sniff around the tree...

Already tried everything, even crawled on the floor and sniffed... Good that nobody sees me here. The dog is already wondering if I've gone crazy with my sniffing. Wall smells like wall, floor like floor, dog like dog... I rather suspect the veranda door or that it comes from there (although all windows in the house are triple glazed and only 5 years old). But I see that as the biggest weakness. I had already suspected the real oak wood parquet, which is under the laminate, but that doesn’t fit with the fact that it only smells sporadically depending on the weather, right? But I will sniff the baseboards again.
that it only smells sporadically due to the weather
It’s the same here in the half-timbered house with old oak beams. A few times a year, when it gets warmer outside again. But only the one in the hallway... I would have described it as "esoteric" because our previous tenants were into that too. But it could also be some kind of chemical/biological reaction to something in the air or a special humidity/temperature, etc.
Anyway, I definitely don’t have any strange trees in the natural garden...

Beams are still a good approach! I have a beam on the ceiling in the living room here, I guess there used to be a wall here... The house used to be a machine house and was converted into a residential house in 1997. It’s not half-timbered, exterior walls made of hollow blocks. But tomorrow I will climb the ladder and sniff the beam as well.

Already done, just today again together with my sister. Nothing! Nowhere does it smell like the air in that room!
