The wall suddenly smells like marijuana and stale beer.

Hmm, I would guess it's the eco-insulation layer. When laying it down, it didn't smell to me either, but later it did. Especially when the sun was shining on the laminate. I suspect it must be a certain combination of temperature and air (or floor) humidity that causes the smell to come out.

I'll take another look at it tomorrow and place a piece of it in another room and also loose in the living room. The storage room has no window, maybe that's why it doesn't smell there. I'm not sure if the smell only appeared after laying the floor. Back then, I still smoked, especially in the living room – that might have distorted the perception.

So here is an update: currently there is absolutely no smell…. This morning only very faintly if you know what you should be smelling.

The floors have been here for 24 years, we have been living here for 15. I doubt it is due to such tiles (if there are any such tiles).

I am curious if and when it will smell again tomorrow

Then you should be able to smell something on the floor during that time too, but there is nothing.

I just managed to locate something... I was lying on the floor and sniffing the veranda door. It definitely comes in from there - I don't know exactly what yet... But I even found that the silicone in the bottom corner has a slight crack and air is coming through there, you can even feel a slight draft. The curtain hangs in front of it, so it’s not noticeable. Now the only question is what smells so strong there. Expansion foam from the window installation maybe?! I’ll check from the outside tomorrow.

So... And since it wouldn't let me rest, I just lay outside on the porch floor. It definitely comes from underneath, from this corner. A few meters further it doesn’t smell. The porch is made of WPC planks, underneath air, underneath partly concrete, partly gravel - back then there were bricks on it, which we removed 6 years ago and built the terrace with WPC. Maybe we uncovered something that smells like that or strangely something is growing underneath. Now the only question is WHAT. Every now and then a mouse runs under there, but just now no one ran under and wouldn’t it have to smell at other times as well, not only in spring?
