The wall suddenly smells like marijuana and stale beer.

A thought comes to mind with laminate: Did you happen to install one of those [Bio-Öko Schaltrittschutz] underneath? I had that in a previous apartment and at least at the beginning it smelled like that. But that eventually went away (or I got used to it). They were kind of greenish, rather stiff mats compared to the usual foam roll.

So we haven't changed anything on the floor since we have been living here. We have been living in the house since 2009. And the smell appeared, as mentioned, for the first time in spring three years ago. Again, we didn't change anything then. No new wallpaper or anything else. This morning there was nothing to smell, only very faintly if you know what smell it is about. Otherwise it is stronger, like yesterday morning. Yesterday evening there was nothing to smell at all. It drives you crazy

Possibly the east side, if the sun shines on the house or through the window in the morning?
Is the weather (e.g. humidity) different than yesterday?

Not really different. Maybe a bit sunnier.
But it is only like this from the end of February until around the end of April. Not afterwards!
I would also guess an early bloomer, but this scent does not prevail around the whole house. Only about 2 weeks ago I briefly noticed it in the driveway, but only briefly.

Great that you are all puzzling along with us so nicely! So it's not the beam either, I sniffed it. I have exactly these green stripes under the laminate, but I still have some of them in the storage room, and it doesn't smell there. I'm also back on the floor and crawling along the baseboards, sniffed at all the sockets and again at the walls. Nothing... This morning I placed a thermometer with humidity in the living room and am keeping a record of it. For me, it’s at approximately the same time as with Nadine, I also guess early bloomers, but strangely I couldn't smell anything from the tree today, but I could in the living room. Frustrating...

Hmm, I would guess it’s the eco-insulation layer. When laying it, it didn’t smell for me either, but later it did. Especially when the sun shone on the laminate. I suspect it has to be a certain combination of temperature and air (or floor) humidity that causes the smell to come out.
