That is certainly mice at your place too if you already see the droppings. They lived for me directly under the floor-to-ceiling veranda door by the wall. There it obviously penetrated extremely. Along the entire house wall under the veranda they lived and under the stone plates that lie every meter are their tunnels. It sounds the same to me with you. Keeping my fingers crossed and please let me know what you hopefully succeeded in repelling them with. Best regardsHello Stefanie D. and Käsekrümelchen,
we have been living in our house (rented) for eight years and have the same problem. It smells strongly of marijuana especially in spring (sometimes also reminiscent of beer, but very pungent and unpleasant). The smell appears in our living room. It somehow comes from the floor or under the floor. We have a wooden floor (oak country house planks). The smell comes from the corner in the area of the floor-to-ceiling windows. Since we have an open layout, the smell spreads through the whole house and it is so disgusting. After airing out, it comes back immediately. We mainly have the smell in the evening, at night and in the morning. From about 1 pm it gets less and starts again around 8 pm. We already had the problem three and four years ago. It always comes in spring (starts between February and April) and disappears after three to four weeks. I suspect in our case that it has something to do with moisture that somehow seeps into the floor or under the screed. Actually, we would have to remove the flooring at those spots to see if something is rotting or if something is leaking, but we live in a rented house, so that is difficult. Our landlord does not care and portrays us as oversensitive. Right outside the window is (outside) our terrace. However, we also sometimes find small black droppings there, which could be from mice. Therefore, I am not sure whether the smell comes from moisture seeping through leaks under the screed or under the wooden floor, or if it comes from mice living under the floor. Earlier I covered the spots where the smell was coming from (as far as I could locate it) with foil and tape, hoping that the smell would no longer flow strongly into the room. Let’s see if it gets better now. I am interested in your further experiences. Later I will set up animal repellent devices in front of the windows of the affected spots (so on the terrace), let’s see if that helps. Keep me updated!
