I would be very grateful for the type of tree, we have had the same problem in our daughter's room for 3 or 4 years in a row now. Always from the end of February to the end of April. Currently again right now. Suddenly it is there, the smell, and then it disappears just as suddenly. We have been living here for 15 years. It is driving me crazy. It also scratches occasionally and crackles on the crawl space (but nobody can get me in there), but mouse urine definitely smells different! We once had mice and also rats in the cage, I know that smell well. Decomposition definitely smells different too. It is simply a mystery. That day I briefly thought I smelled a small cloud outside too, but only in one specific spot. Otherwise no room smells. Last year it moved. Only since yesterday it has been extremely strong again. But even throughout the whole house, and I still can’t locate exactly where it’s coming from or going in.

It definitely doesn’t smell like mice. I doubt whether shrews smell different in their urine. It doesn’t sting your nose either. The smell disappears after being in the room for a few minutes; you don’t smell anything anymore. Only when entering the room. It is a smell that is really hard to describe but not so disgusting that you would have to avoid the room. And as I said, it comes suddenly and goes suddenly. The fact that others also have this problem reassures me currently. I already thought I was crazy.
