I believe you will appreciate later on that the sun doesn’t "really come through" on one side (west) and you might even retreat there more often. If the sun shines on the south terrace all day, you will hardly want to spend time there.

I also doubt the feasibility of the plan to put up an awning later on a length of 8 meters or more....

I would therefore at least want to realize the corner solution on both sides (south/west), which can be quite practical especially for regular visitors/celebrations. For example, an adult table on one side, and two meters away another table for the younger ones... :)

I am indeed also considering the wood solution. In my opinion, it would go well with your house/clinker and ultimately is not (significantly) more expensive?

If I see it correctly, the terrace doors are finished. So there should be a terrace or at least an exit wherever you step outside, right?

It’s about 4 meters to the boundary….

Exactly…..there is also a window on the east side, but there will also be paving there

I do like wood, but I wanted everything to be uniform and wood does require maintenance. Which wood would you recommend for that?

Uniform can also quickly appear boring. Yes and no. If you want to preserve the color of the wood, then you have to oil it regularly. If it is allowed/intended to weather to grey, then you don’t need much care. In the end, the decision also depends on taste and possibly ecological considerations (keyword tropical wood). You get a nice brown with durable (local) wood, for example, with thermal wood (thermo ash, etc.). That is also extremely durable. Tropical woods are also nice, from brown through reddish to striped varieties (classical Bangkirai, but also IPE, Cumaru, Garapa, etc.). Bamboo works as well. Local but less durable woods would be robinia, larch, pine (none of which I like).

I can only recommend to a limited extent, as unfortunately only in theory and not from practice. I always wanted to have a wooden terrace and ultimately decided on porcelain stoneware for certain reasons.... But: there are types of wood that require little to no maintenance and still last many years. Whether Siberian larch or other tropical woods....

I can understand the idea of wanting everything to be "uniform," but on the other hand, it can definitely be stylish (and in my opinion more beautiful) to make the terrace an "island" separate from the rest. Everything uniform can become boring over time and does not invite you to linger as much as a color-contrasted "feel-good zone." Just some thoughts....

Do not underestimate the heat storage capacity of dark stone surfaces. If you lay about 100 sqm of paving around your house, then your house will be sitting in a frying pan in summer and walking barefoot will not be enjoyable either. And with a uniform paving, it might look as if your house is standing in a parking lot.
