What about the good cable connection? Isn't it still up to date?

Good point, but (at least in our case) especially small new development areas are no longer supplied "- because it is not worth it". I would have liked to have cable like in my previous apartment (and I would have liked to book it again for internet + phone, because it's fast and cheap). An inquiry with Unitymedia revealed that we (and 3 neighbors) would have had to pay a total of 35,000 euros for laying/connecting the cable (houses 50m as the crow flies from us have 100 Mbit internet via cable). That was too much money for most people, so I now have "only" 10 Mbit via DSL, cable does not provide more, and satellite TV.

We are prepared for all variants. The satellite system is on the roof and conventionally supplies us with television. However, at the distributor, we can also feed in a cable signal (DSL via cable with max. 400 Mbit possible, we currently use a 150 Mbps connection) as well as bring the signal into the network. Overall it wasn't really expensive to have a few outlets installed and really keep all options open. However, if money is tight, I would consider whether I really need gimmicks like IPTV.

I also forgot to mention, we also have a cable in the basement that goes to the satellite dish / to the node of the star-shaped coax distribution, so that you are flexible, either for a possible laying of a cable into the house (even if unlikely) or to put a signal in the basement towards Sat-IP on the switch into the network.

Sat over IP is not internet TV, as we convert a classic satellite signal to a network, so that with tablets or a TV that has an IP-compatible receiver (e.g., Panasonic), you basically have the normal satellite signal available at every network socket. However, as far as I know, this does not work with Sky so far.
