Exactly, in the more or less near future I will also be allowed to collect the LAN cables, place them on a patch panel, connect the patch panel to a switch, and then connect the switch to the router. The router will most likely be a Fritzbox (which exact model: still open). Patch panels and switches .... are as common as sand on the sea, and for me (a layperson) one is as good as another. That’s why I’m curious about what others install. The same applies to the cabinet as well.

Since the patch panel will be located in the utility room, I have omitted additional separate sockets in this room. If necessary, I will lay suitable cables on the surface.

If you do it new, then do it right. For the ground floor, the entire cable is in the concrete ceiling, there is not a single cable laid on the floor. The disadvantage is that you have to make slots from top to bottom, the advantage: no cutting of insulation.

On the upper floor, the entire cable also lies on the ceiling

Disadvantages are that the slots are not from top to bottom.

We did it that way too, yet especially on the ground floor there is still quite a bit on the floor because with the construction came the good ideas.

Upstairs the floors are almost bare, in the basement only a few cables around the edges.

Personally, I’m not such a fan of the patch panel in the distribution - technically everything may work, but there is too much electricity as an interference factor for me. Additionally, the surcharges are hefty and the space rather limited. I need all the space in the HV anyway for electrical stuff - for over 40 LAN connections there would be too little anyway.

I had a good electrician, he suggested things like roller shutter switches next to the light switch and not at the window, staircase light, box cable, etc.
