So if schnitzels are fried in the kitchen, which are then carried through the door into the dining room, the door between the kitchen and dining room will certainly not help you with the smell. I also can’t imagine that the door is constantly closed during cooking for many residents.

Best regards

I find the desire for a closed kitchen quite legitimate. Whether it really helps with odors during the Schnitzlogeddon is debatable, but there are also other reasons for wanting the kitchen to be closed.

From a smell technology perspective, the door is useless, and with three children, it usually stays open anyway. Controlled residential ventilation and a really good extractor fan help here, nothing else.

But of course, it's up to everyone whether they want an open or closed kitchen. You know it open, now want it differently again - then there must be reasons for that - I just don't have to be able to understand them.

Me too. But the arguments are flawed, and then one should reflect once more A closed kitchen will not protect against that either, after all, the connecting doors are often used. The aromas also spread throughout the whole house. Yes! It cannot quickly eliminate all odors. Of course it is – very much so

I find it somehow bizarre that there is a development plan back there, where a 5m distance is required on the right or the building plot is limited to 11m in width. That's really a shame, because you can't just rotate the house like that. Is that explained anywhere? It seems arbitrary to me...

We also have a closed kitchen with a door and the door definitely makes a difference when it comes to smells and noises. I can still bake and mix in the evening without it being particularly audible in the living room. In our old apartment, we had an open kitchen and despite good ventilation, it sometimes smelled like a fast food stall when frying.
