Show me your facade colors!

I still have a picture of us. It is plain white with anthracite-colored windows and naturelle-colored shutters.

Generally: Clinker bricks, pilasters, and other elements in white/beige/grey can certainly make a striking color more palatable. There is a reason why we wanted Schönbrunner Yellow, and when you look at the original in nature, it is also harmonious. But then we looked at our construction plan and, hm, well, not everything stylistically fits together. Therefore: No clinker bricks, no pilasters, no medieval fortress look. I also know a house in the middle of Franconia that we always called "Peppermint Petty's House" because it was really bright mint green, amidst half-timbered houses. You have to like that – even if you don’t see it from the outside as often as, for example, the neighbor across the street.

I have to take some photos in the neighborhood. How is that legally? I am allowed to take the photos, but actually not allowed to publish them, right? But if it is not recognizable where the photos were taken from, is that less critical?

Google "Friesenhausentscheidung". As far as I know, you are allowed to take photos from public property and without aids, so not with a stepladder.

It would also be new to me that you are not allowed to take pictures of private property and possessions as long as no persons are recognizable. Ultimately, even Google does this on a large scale and you have to explicitly object if you don't want your house to appear on Google Streetview. As far as I know, you have no way at all to make your property unrecognizable in satellite images.

So it's called Schönbrunner yellow. Good to know.

Well, then I'll add some color too. I would have wanted it to be more orange, but it wasn't available in the plaster style (ist durchgefärbter Putz).

I think it's a shame that we humans (myself included) aren't a bit braver. For some inexplicable reason, I still believe that one day I will build my own little house all by myself (maybe with a dog). I'll make it really colorful then. I don't know why, but bright, vivid colors almost always bring me a bit of joy. Sometimes I make fun of myself when I see a bright blue or red house, but I still have to smile.

A few weeks ago we visited the window manufacturer's factory and that totally blew me away. I have to say: plain natural tones are more my thing, but this extremely intense bright purple wooden front door impressed me deeply. I still keep thinking about that color – even though I would never choose something like that for myself. I can totally understand you :)
