Did the architect only plan what the client wanted...? Anyway, exterior shading is needed. From my point of view, the situation is comparable to a conservatory. Maybe get some inspiration from that. Fabric awning, etc.

Due to the low probability that anyone has ever followed my advice to plan a private semi-detached house with a common architect, I assume this is a developer project. With the aggravation that the exterior wall and the roof are "more massive" and have a stronger heat storage capacity. And that it is not a conservatory (which you can sometimes just ignore if it gets too warm), but rather a main living room.

It doesn't matter at all whether architect or builder - the client must be informed according to the thermal insulation regulation. We would have had to sign something because of 6sqm south-facing windows on the ground floor, vertical, not in the roof, mind you, if we hadn't taken roller shutters. Unfortunately, the OP does not answer my questions, one might possibly still backtrack a bit. He is probably in a kind of shock paralysis :(

There are exterior blinds from the two major roof window manufacturers (Roto and Velux), either proper roller blinds or semi-transparent sun protection elements. These should be easily retrofitted as they are mounted on the outside. Only an electrical cable directly at the window is required.

Those are exactly the ones I was talking about. But believe me, it's good to have, but it really doesn't help here! Even with a regular roof window, it is still advisable to close the shutter during the day. Otherwise, it’s like a sauna in the evening. From my estimate, it reduces about 60% of the heat radiation.

Looking at the area, it lessens the effect, but it still won’t create a comfortable climate.

Good to know. Do you have anything from Roto? There are 3 variants, according to the brochure 75% and 90% sun protection and roller shutter. I also have a Roto window (southeast) in 1400x900 in the stairwell. Even there, it heats up incredibly so that I have to retrofit something. Luckily, I can still fumble the electricity from the attic.
