Despite the 25% discount, it is €5k cheaper than in the cost calculation.

Yes, both include installation.
I had met both companies once at a construction fair in Berlin and made contacts.
Why bother at work? On the contrary, I’m supposed to participate in obtaining offers. Why no trust??

They probably have a Ug of 0.6 and soundproofing plays rather a minor role where we build.

That’s true, I just noticed that too, but is that enough to explain such a price difference?

That was only a small excerpt from the offer which covers 8 pages. On the last page, delivery and installation are also listed in the price.

A German company with a German invoice is installing it. :)

It is a 2-man operation. He ordered the windows directly from the factory.

In case of a complaint, I grab my buddy and then he is allowed to repair, replace, whatever.

Your offer doesn't sound unrealistic, but the windows also don't have ideal values for thermal transmittance. Almost 1 W/m²K as an overall value despite [Warmer Kante] is actually rather unusual. I would personally also consider an upgrade to RC2.

ok sounds good.

No idea if you can/may/should interfere with the architect

but I guess it won’t be a good cooperation

what will you do if your window installer is supposed to do it, you insist, and he should work on his trade but has no time? The delays etc?

If you are asking the question because you would then like to borrow a little less credit if it should always/more often become cheaper: stick to the numbers from the architect’s estimate. The money will be spent anyway - usually easier than you think. ;-)

And otherwise, just be happy if it should become cheaper!

The only thing that surprises me: did you get the offers with a service specification or "freehand," and does your architect plan to set, for example, completion deadlines/penalties for delay in the final contracts? I could imagine that the companies would then submit the offer somewhat higher. Oh yes, and one more thing: I would take a look at the binding period of the offers; not that they feel bound to it for only 3 months and you only need the windows in 5 months.

I don't see a price difference in the classic sense, but rather a comparison of apples and oranges: one is an estimate, the other a concrete real offer - measuring a difference between them is not serious.

After the description, the offer seems market-appropriate to me and the estimate cautious.

What kind of a loser is that? - an architect should actually know the difference between tendering and obtaining offers: the difference is once with and once without a common denominator. This way you get two dimensions of an apples-oranges comparison: once between estimate and offer and once between offer X and offer Y.
