So I have everything. We are surrounded in the east and west by two railway lines 300m and 500m away respectively. Long-distance and freight trains. Regularly, of course.

To the north and also about 500m away runs a three-lane federal highway.

In the sky is one of the landing routes to Tegel. At about 800m, the landing planes glide over us. At certain times also the departing planes from Schönefeld, but these are already at about 2000m and therefore not as noticeable.

"Advantages" of a big city. But you get used to it. The surrounding buildings absorb quite a bit. Nevertheless, the trains are very audible in the evening. If the wind is unfavorable then also the highway, but rather on weekends.

I would still build here again anytime.

To the TE: I would take another look at everything and then decide. No matter what you choose, there will always be some restrictions.

That shows how different people are. I would never accept that in my life. No matter how much a city has to offer.

I would also take plot 2. A garbage dump next door is completely out of the question.

Well, that's how different it is. But I can get to Alex in 15 minutes or to work in 10 minutes. You just have to clarify what is important to you.

But when it comes to [Müllkippe], I agree with you, that's just not acceptable...

The sports airfield certainly has requirements to meet: max. number of takeoffs per day, quiet times, narrow corridors for approach/departure, etc., making it by far the lesser evil.

PS: My personal opinion on single-engine aircraft flying low at takeoff power: music to my ears. Although I admit that could quickly change with daily forced exposure.

Regarding railway noise, the Federal Railway Authority has interactive noise maps online. Google helps to find that. There you can also see how many trains, etc.

I do not understand the rejection of the landfill. Landfilling of household waste ended in 2005, almost all such landfills are covered. Odors should not escape from there. But there may be exceptions. (Can you tell me or us which landfill?)

Aircraft noise is something you either like or not. It would annoy me that on Sunday afternoons with the best terrace weather there is the most traffic.

Best regards

It wasn't meant as criticism at all. It's always individual. You would probably have a breakdown in my village. The best argument is of course the commute to work. That saves time and time is the true luxury in our society. Alex doesn't bother me at all. Another argument is by the way the short distance to the train connection. That is also great. With some soundproofing you won't hear anything in the house anymore. And maybe you can orient the house so that the garden is on the side away from the railway.
