Visit to the nail salon vs. having children? I've never heard that aspect before.. And don't worry, even in Lower Saxony, in the exciting regions, purchase prices have outpaced incomes.

Hmm, but that already sounds a bit like excess, doesn't it? Hyperconsumerism and the emptiness of the Insta era. You can do it, but you will probably rightly be placed under increasing pressure to justify it.

No inheritance, manageable equity, one child. It simply depends on the expectations.

That's just how individual it is, there are also people who don't want children at all.

On the other hand, we have never been to a nail salon and we don't even go to a hairdresser.
We also don't eat out, but instead have many cooking evenings alternately with our friends/ourselves.
There are probably neighbors who wonder how someone under 30 can have so much equity. Living rent-free does explain part of it, but by far not everything.

But roughly where in Bavaria is that then? But well, without a basement and with a parking space instead of a double garage, it would have easily worked for us too, so presumably the requirements are just higher than one thinks :-(

Wrong, wrong, and wrong. My parents could have supported me, but I didn't want that. I financed my studies 100% myself. Student loan, job (20h/week during the semester; 40h/week during holidays). Although I finished my studies with about 20k€ debt, it was paid off after just under two years. And that's how I can say I managed my studies myself. It's the same with the house. After all, it's my house and not my parents'.
