Our offer from the general contractor definitely includes all the painting work completely! We will then have some of it partially removed in the end, depending on what we want to do ourselves. Thus, included in the construction and performance description: ceiling and walls partially skimmed to Q2. Ceiling with woodchip wallpaper + painted white.
Another general contractor recommended using painter's fleece to make the ceiling "smoother" (Q2 remains). As you already said, that will be very difficult... Therefore, we are currently considering having the Q2 ceiling fully skimmed (thus Q3, right?) and then having painter's fleece applied, because we prefer a smooth ceiling visually. I could live with Q2 on the walls as it would be a good contrast to a smooth ceiling. So it is naturally important for us to know how high the price is for a Q3 skimmed ceiling with painter's fleece. We will inquire about that soon.
What surprises me, of course, is that everyone here, as well as in our circle of acquaintances, says: "No one uses woodchip wallpaper anymore nowadays," yet in all the construction and performance descriptions the ceiling is only skimmed to Q2, so within the "standard range," I have no choice but to take woodchip wallpaper?
I somehow can’t imagine that everyone pines for it?
I think it is important for us first to see both variants Q2 + woodchip and Q3 + painter’s fleece live somewhere... I believe otherwise it will be very difficult for us to decide. The question has only now arisen, so we are currently dealing with it.
We thought about: smooth ceiling and decorative quartz with fine grain on the wall to have a small contrast. To achieve that, I should probably not leave the ceiling at Q2, right, since then I have to work with painter’s fleece?
