Maybe we shouldn't save money in the wrong place and use fleece everywhere after all. But every painter says something different. The current offer with Q3 and painting for €15,000 (150 sqm living space) is indeed tempting...

I would rather ask what Q2 + fleece costs. If that is done well, Q3 is not necessary.

Uff, that doesn’t seem tempting cheap to me either. I agree. We got Q2 from the general contractor (which the painter considers well done for Q2). We are paying our painter less than €6,000 including materials. He does minor repairs/filling/sanding, primes the plaster and ceilings with opaque white, wallpapers structural fleece and paints. He also does acrylic work in the upper floor. We saved on Q3 underneath.

we will ask about Q2 and fleece.

All offers so far have been around ~22,000€. A painter friend would use a putty fleece (which is supposed to be higher quality than painter's fleece) and that would be 18,000, but if we prime and paint ourselves, otherwise all inclusive at 22,500€... the option of priming + painting ourselves is still possible, although it involves work, but for painting our four left hands should be enough .

I would use fleece. It not only bridges possible settlement cracks but also makes the wall more forgiving of minor bumps. If you hit the bare plaster on your nice Q3 walls (during moving, cleaning, or who knows what), you’re likely to chip a small piece of plaster. With slightly stronger fleece over it, the wall can forgive some light knocks. It’s simply a protective layer for the plaster. I especially noticed this with friends in new buildings. The walls are actually wonderfully smooth, but I wondered about all the small dents (especially in the stairwell). They don’t have fleece on the walls, just putty.
