If it is not properly glued, it comes off by itself,... We have the painter's fleece everywhere. Especially at the corners, the work was not done neatly. Now the fleece + the paint above it is coming off. After 3 years in the house: There are spots that I have painted 4 times already (was first an office, then a children's room). The painter's fleece has held up until now.

Take textured wallpaper. It is more forgiving of mistakes and easier to paste. Besides, textured wallpaper is breathable. Not every painter's fleece can boast that. Textured wallpaper is also cheaper. And who knows.... maybe in 5 years you’ll want something different on the wall? Also great for new builds: paper wallpaper. Good, affordable, paintable, and breathable. Available with or without patterns, in color or just plain white. Advantage: Does not need to be painted.

Painter’s fleece is not easy to work with. We did a ceiling on the ground floor with it and then took it all down again. Now a simple fleece wallpaper is glued to the ceiling.

Paper wallpaper: By the way, this tip is not from me. I’m just passing it on. It comes from my daughter’s prospective father-in-law, a master painter with a thriving business.

Our wallpapers are white with texture or cream-colored. Visual highlights are photo wallpapers from Komar, made of paper. Total costs all in: €350. Perfect for drying out the walls (residual moisture). You also don’t see settling cracks.

What exactly is Malervlies? I only know it from moving, for the floor so it doesn't get damaged...

Painter's fleece is a non-textured and uncoated fleece wallpaper. On a roll, it is generally between 25 and 50 running meters. It is also available in different widths. Of course, there is also diffusion-open painter's fleece or even with texture, but that one is quite expensive. Then there is the paint, because painter's fleece is painted similarly to textured wallpaper. Painter's fleece is now available in every well-stocked hardware store or in specialized shops.

Or at Aldi next week - are we really buying for the move, hence my silly question. So basically like wallpaper and then just very beautiful and velvety soft?

Velvety soft..... I found it rather fuzzy.

When are you moving in?
