No additional meter is needed. In the worst case, this can also be installed in the charging station. It is recognized by the tax office if necessary for billing.

Or as a calibrated meter on the DIN rail, if the WB does not come with one?

That's exactly what I don't understand. The wallboxes come with their own internal meter as far as I know. Still, our network provider (Westnetz) requires an additional meter and says that the internal one is not sufficient. I don't get it and am inclined to ignore it rather than invest 1200 EUR now for a big question mark.

Are you sure that Westnetz requires a separate meter? That only applies if you use the free e-mobility connection, right?

Yes , you are right. But that's what I'm concerned about. That at first (by phone) it was made to sound appealing to have the free eMobility connection installed directly and now I find out later that I would necessarily need an additional meter for that. Otherwise, the connection is of no use to me because I wouldn't be allowed to operate a wallbox later....

The question for me therefore is: - take the free connection from Westnetz and invest 1,200 EUR in the larger cabinet to be "future-proof," or - pay normally for the connection (around 700-800 EUR) to be independent and possibly later be forced to rebuild the meter cabinet for the installation of a meter to use the wallbox tariffs.

Oh, just saw now that you are the user who asked the question about Westnetze :D

Where do the 700-800 euros for the connection come from?
Do you mean the normal household electricity connection? Or is that the surcharge you pay if you indicate the operation of a wallbox when applying for the house connection?! That seems really high to me.

I think you should rather apply for your construction power normally. Indicate that you want to operate a wallbox later.
It probably won’t cost any extra.

If you ever want to have your own meter, you can still calculate whether it’s worth it
