Have you read up on it by now?

You list later on how you/we can practically do everything ourselves, how every trade is basically done in EL and much more, but in the first post you say you are at the very beginning, ask beginner questions (this is not meant derogatorily, just a statement, everyone was once a beginner!) like the one about prefab houses = cheaper... that doesn’t really fit together in my opinion. If you are so competent and can handle everything in EL thus saving costs, then one knows that this rarely works with a prefab house; craftsmanship and numerous helping hands can be combined much better with a solid house with a regional general contractor... for example.

Hence the question above.

Your parents certainly didn’t build in 2020 with an income of 2800 euros. With a loan of 230,000 euros, you won’t get far building a house; your house will definitely cost around 300,000 euros including additional costs, it can’t be much cheaper. For a loan of 300,000 euros, you will surely pay well over 1000 euros every month, you just have to consider if you can manage that.

Best regards

Especially when there are monthly incidental costs of at least 400€ waiting.

1,200 € monthly is, in my opinion, very very frugal for two people. We are three. And after deducting all costs such as rent, our daughter's music school, retirement provision, Netflix (we also set aside money every month for vehicle insurance, vehicle tax, Amazon Prime, so everything that is not debited every month), about 2,200 € remain for the three of us + 2,000 € is saved. And we are still waiting with the house construction so that at least the plot is paid off and we can build up some equity.

With your answers, I so often don’t even know what to write because they are so off... I’m just shaking my head virtually.

The rent is of course separate and not part of the fixed costs I listed. That also goes away if you move into the house.
